CASS
(Action Committee of Non-status Algerians) was created in
April, 2002 by non-status Algerians when the Minister of Immigration
removed a moratorium on their deportation to Algeria. CASS
members convinced the federal and provincial governments to
set up a "special procedure" for dealing with non-status
Algerians. Their struggle led to victory for 98% of the non-status
Algerians, who were granted the right to live in Canada.
